October is Indigenous Business Month so it’s an apt time to share some information on a collaboration between Supply Nation and Google.org which develops the capability of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business owners.

The Indigenous Business Learning Program is funded by Google’s philanthropic arm, Google.org. The program will offer advice and guidance, highlighting suitable techniques and processes unique to Indigenous business culture. It will provide an online platform with on-demand video resources on a range of topics identified as key success factors for Indigenous businesses.

As part of the collaboration, in August a 'Grow with Google for Indigenous businesses' digital skills workshop was held in Sydney. The training included:

  • tips from small business experts about the ins and outs of getting the business found online to reach new customers
  • how to get started with Google Ads to drive conversion
  • the power of analytics and the easy-to-reach data that can help make better-informed business decisions.

Davina Shearer, Program Manager, Inclusion & Equity (Asia Pacific) at Google was the workshop host, with opening remarks provided by Managing Director of Google Australia, Mel Silva, CEO of Supply Nation, Jodie Taylor, and Co-founder of Trading Blak, Jarin Baigent.
