Each year the United Nations convene a conference of the world’s nations with the purpose of managing and negotiating a universal agreement to limit the increasing in average global warning. Attended by world leaders, bureaucrats, businesspeople, scientists, and policy makers the meeting is known as ‘The Conference of Parties’ (to the agreement) or COP.

This year’s conference is in Egypt between November 6 -18.

So what does all this mean for business operators in Australia?

In this episode James poses this question to Tennant Reed, the Head of Environment and Energy for Australian Industry Group: Tennant has attended several COPs, he is going to Egypt, and he has a unique understanding and insight into the conference and what it achieves (or doesn’t).

James and Tennant explore the difficulties of achieving agreements on global change, the impact of global events on the decision making, and the success of the conferences over years.

Tennant suggest things businesspeople should keep an eye on as the news emerges from the conference this year.  And he shares some personal stories.
