Two Ai Group Apprentice and Trainee (Ai Group ATC) standouts have been recognised as leaders with an invitation to take part in a prestigious national professional development program in Canberra this week.

Alexander Goldsmith and Cohen Young are among 25 apprentices and trainees from around Australia chosen to participate in the National Apprentice Employment Network’s 2024 Today’s Skills: Tomorrow’s Leaders (TSTL) program.

The Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, met the pair at Government House yesterday as she launched the program, which has helped more than 280 apprentices and trainees since it started in 2004.

The Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn, spoke of the need for leaders in industry to inspire the next generation.

The week-long intensive residential program includes career development, leadership training and workshops focused on self-discovery, confidence-building and goal setting.

Cohen is an apprentice in Electronics and Communications at Qinetiq in Melbourne, while Alexander is undertaking a Diploma of Applied Technologies traineeship through Power Plastics in Sydney.

“Now more than ever, Australia has to appreciate the value of training while the country faces a massive skills shortage,” Ai Group ATC Head Peter Nolan said.

“We are proud as an organisation to help train people and support employers who are desperate to fill vacancies.”

Craig Hilton, Ai Group ATC’s National Manager Stakeholder Engagement, attended yesterday’s ceremony at Government House with Alexander and Cohen, pictured L-R holding commemorative coins they received from Ms Mostyn.

“We are excited to see how this opportunity will help Cohen and Alexander grow personally and professionally and congratulate them on their achievement.”
