Several recent tranches of amendments to the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) have been passed by the Government subject to a requirement to implement a review of their impact and effectiveness within a certain period (generally after 2 years).

A legislative review of changes made by the Fair Work Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022 (Cth) commenced in October 2024.

A draft report making 19 draft recommendations was released on 3 February 2025.

There will be a brief period for further input on the draft recommendations, after which a final report and recommendations will be delivered to the Minister for Workplace Relations on or before 31 March 2025.

Ai Group was a leading employer voice throughout the passage of the Secure Jobs, Better Pay amendments in 2022 and has been engaged throughout the current review process.

Ai Group will make a further written submission responding to the draft report and will again meet with its authors to seek to further influence the final report and recommendations to Government. We would welcome member feedback on the draft recommendations.
