Just in case we need to add a WYSIWYG block to every page. We can hide this in the meantime.

Australia's vocational education and training sector has a new system to address strategic workforce challenges and ensure qualifications are developed and updated faster to meet evolving needs. Crucially, the goal is to provide industry with a stronger, more strategic voice in this space.

In fact, the role of the Jobs and Skills Councils will broaden substantially from the previous system to include a group of connected functions that will contribute to getting the training right. They include:

  • workforce planning;
  • monitoring the implementation of qualifications;
  • developing cross-industry training pathways;
  • creating awareness for learners;
  • addressing issues for employers; and
  • providing opportunities for industry and training providers to work together on training and assessment practices.

Nationally recognised training covers Certificates I-IV, Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas and skill sets.

With such a broad and aspiring range of tasks on their plate, our webinar asked the leaders of two of the new Jobs and Skills Councils how they will achieve them. We also asked a member company how they see the system changing to better meet industry needs.
