Just in case we need to add a WYSIWYG block to every page. We can hide this in the meantime.

Dismissing an employee is never easy. Most managers find the process of termination uncomfortable and something they would rather not do. However, managers often are faced with the difficult decision of terminating an employee's employment. Many may then be faced with applications to the Fair Work Commission, alleging that what they did was unfair.

This webinar provided practical advice and guidance for employers faced with unfair dismissal applications, and will drill down into the relevant provisions of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth).

In particular, this webinar provided key recommendations and practical guidance on:

  • what makes a dismissal unfair;
  • who is protected from unfair dismissal;
  • how to respond to an application for unfair dismissal remedy;
  • what to expect if an application for unfair dismissal remedy is filed (including an overview of the conciliation process and what happens if the matter does not settle);
  • potential remedies available to an employee who makes an application for unfair dismissal remedy; and
  • practical tips for minimising risk.

Case studies highlighted where employers have got it right and not-so-right and what the implications can be.
