Bias in recruitment is difficult to avoid, however it is worth spending the time to invest in educating HR and hiring managers with some strategies to remove conscious and/or unconscious bias. Not only is this the right thing to do, but it results in organisations having more diverse and inclusive workplaces with employees that are representative of the community.

Despite the extraordinary effort of some employers, bias is common in the workplace and the recruitment process is the first opportunity for employers to demonstrate some strategies to minimise this. Employers need to be mindful that if they fail to take a proactive approach to addressing bias, it can result in discrimination against qualified and suitable applicants, whilst undermining the requirement to find the best talent.

This How to Minimise Bias in the Recruitment Process resource provides some excellent strategies to help employers minimise bias in their recruitment process.
