The Closing Loopholes Bill was split into two by agreement in the Senate. As a result, the Closing Loopholes amendments were passed as two separate Acts.
The Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes) Act 2023 (Closing Loopholes Act) was passed by Parliament on 7 December 2023 and received Royal Assent on 14 December 2023.
The Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes No. 2) Act 2023 (Closing Loopholes No.2 Act) was passed by Parliament on 12 February 2024 and received Royal Assent on 26 February 2024.
The two Closing Loopholes Acts introduce major changes to the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and other laws.
