In early 2024, Ai Group launched the Emerging Industries Council (EIC), marking a significant step in shaping Australia's economic future. This initiative addresses the critical challenges of digitisation, decarbonisation, and diversification that are reshaping global business.
The EIC bridges traditional and future industries, recognizing that "emerging industries" include both new ventures and established businesses that have successfully transformed. This inclusive approach ensures support across the entire economic spectrum, from innovative startups to reinvented legacy enterprises.
The Council's mission is to restart Australia's productivity agenda through practical solutions. By bringing together industry leaders, innovation experts, and policy makers, the EIC creates actionable pathways for business transformation. Key focus areas include overcoming digital adoption barriers, implementing sustainable practices, and developing market diversification strategies.
What distinguishes the EIC is its pragmatic approach. The Council delivers tangible outcomes through targeted initiatives, workshop programs, and policy advocacy. This includes facilitating knowledge transfer between successful transformers and emerging players, and developing practical toolkits for business transformation. Special emphasis is placed on supporting regional and traditional sector businesses, ensuring an inclusive economic transformation.
