In 2010, the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) created a comprehensive list of 37 “Strategies to Mitigate Targeted Cyber Intrusions”. Years later, the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), as part of the ASD, selected the eight strategies marked as ‘essential’, and branded them the “Essential Eight”.
Since then, the Essential Eight has become the cornerstone of security for all Federal Government departments & agencies (as mandated in the PSPF). And it has also become the preferred security framework adopted by Australian businesses due to its ability to dramatically reduce cyber risk through a manageable list of eight strategies.
The full eight strategies (at Maturity Level 2) have recently become the minimum security level required for those organisations who currently work with Defence, or wish to in the future--DISP (Defence Industry Security Program). This course also helps guides those organisations that need to uplift their compliance.
This 90-minute online session has been designed for those who need to understand the structure and requirements of the Essential Eight Maturity Model, and how they can go about implementing it in their environment. It is not a technical course but provides a solid overview of how to get started with an implementation. (Please see our “Implementing the Essential Eight Maturity Model” workshop if you need a deeper technical course).
