This in-person one day course is designed for individuals in HR/P&C and WHS who want to understand the requirements of the positive duty in the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth), how it relates to other obligations, and learn the day-to-day skills and actions necessary to work towards organisational compliance with this new obligation. The course is presented by Ai Group Workplace Lawyers and is designed to ensure that participants at all levels obtain key understandings and skills in this area.

 

Learning Outcomes

Participants will:

  • Understand the various relevant laws including sex-based harassment, hostile workplace environments and the positive duty.
  • Understand how the positive duty interacts with work health and safety obligations in relation to psychosocial hazards.
  • Understand what the positive duty uniquely requires businesses and organisations to do.
  • Learn the key content and principles in the Guidelines for Complying with the Positive Duty (August 2023).
  • Receive information that will assist participants to comply with the positive duty.
  • Undertake various practical exercises that cover prevention through to response and can be applied in day-to-day practice.
